P-51D Detail

This set is the perfect companion to the Eduard P-51D kits. Aside from the obvious radiator faces (two different kinds) and hydraulic lines you can make out in online photos, it has brake lines for the main landing gear, three tiny chains for the flare gun port cover, five little knobs for the side of the battery, beautiful and perfectly fitting surface details for the rudder pedals, a replacement for the molded details on the back of the headrest, a Shick-Johnson seat, a fold-together detrola, some beautiful main gear uplocks, scissor mechanisms I haven’t quite figured out yet, a replacement for the molded canopy emergency release, a significantly larger oil cooler face than the kit part, and replacements for the carb air intakes. The intakes have the normal exterior bits, but they also have very thoughtful textured filter parts to go behind them on the inside of the nose. The fret is .005” brass, so it’s slightly thinner than the stainless steel frets that come with the kits. I like that there are more of the tiniest parts (the battery knobs and flare gun chains), and the rudder pedal details add a lot. The front radiator faces go all the way to the bottom of the cockpit floor, which “seals off” that area visually. This detail set really makes a beautiful kit into a jewel; it almost seems like the Eduard kit was made for this fret rather than the other way around.
